A memorial service was arranged by the WASITRAC (Washington State and India Trade Relations Action Committee) on Friday, January 4, 2013 to pay tribute to this brave girl who lost her life but was able to awaken the emotions in the masses of India and elsewhere, raising the issue of the inhumane atrocities towards women. The need of the hour is a dispassionate debate and discussion into the critical changes that are required in societal attitudes, legal systems and enforcement for the security of women.

People from all walks of life joined us and shared there thoughts on "Nirbhaya" and the untold saga of sufferings of women like her. The event was a true homage to her memory, if these emotions and energies were channelized into a constructive course of action.
